This hamburger will be sure to please your crowd. The Carolina Classic has been a classic for a long time. Thought I didn't know what it was called, we just ate them like this growing up. Loved them!
Ingredients:
Chilli -
1/2 lb burger
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1-2 tbsp chilli powder
1/8 cup ketchup
Water to thin
Slaw -
Chopped cabbage
1/4 cup mayo
pinch of sugar
salt
pepper
1 tsp apple cider vinegar (may need more)
Bun of choice
6 oz burger seasoned with salt
2 slices American cheese (2 pieces)
chopped onions
mustard
Directions:
1. Preheat griddle to low, 400 degrees. Add a small pot to the griddle to warm up. Add burger from chili directly to the griddle and brown. When browned add to pot. Add the rest of the chilli ingredients and mix well. Let simmer on griddle. Add salt if needed.
2. Add ingredients of the slaw in a small bowl and mix well. Set aside
3. Add a little oil to griddle and put down your burger. Add salt and pepper and cook for about 2 minutes. Flip and cook another 2 minutes. Put buns down and toast to your liking. Stir chili and then remove from griddle.
4. Add cheese to burger and cover with a little water to melt the cheese. Remove the buns and add some Dukes Mayo to both top and bottom buns. Put hamburger on the bottom bun. Put a scoop of chili on the hamburger followed by chopped onions, slaw and mustard. Put top bun on and enjoy.
